Tennis Whites

sweater: J.Crew (old, more options here and linked below) // shorts: Gap (old, similar) // hair scarf: vintage (also love this one) // earrings: Madewell // bag: Land's End // shoes: Superga

I love wearing white in the summer. I don't adhere to the "no white until after labor day rule" (I just think it's outdated, but I digress) but I do feel like white is an undeniably summery color.

One of my favorite white pieces in my wardrobe is this scalloped-edge sleeveless sweater from J.Crew a few seasons ago. I picked it up second hand and I love it! It's a chunkier knit but keeps you from overheating with a looser cut. I love the scallop detail on the hem and the fact that it's sleeveless -- such a classic silhouette!

In this outfit, I paired the sweater with an old favorite pair of Gap high waisted jeans and white Supergas. I've talked about how much I love these sneakers many times on the blog before, but they're a fantastic investment and so easy to care for (I just throw mine in the wash and they come out good as new!). I've also taken to carrying my monogram canvas tote; it's such a summer staple for me and the navy goes with everything in my wardrobe.

Finally, I can't neglect to mention one of my favorite summer trends: silk hair scarves! While I love the look of using a silk scarf as a headband, I don't think that look is as flattering on me, so I opt for dressing up my signature low ponytail with a hair scarf. The one I wore today is actually my mom's from years ago - she got it from an event at Yale, where they gave her this navy and green silk scarf! I wish Penn would do the same! I think statement earrings also pair beautifully with a low pony. These are from Madewell and I like that the light tortoise stands out from my brown hair.
